Celebrating a Step Toward Wellness: Thank You Erlanger!

Celebrating a Step Toward Wellness: Thank You, Erlanger!

Cherokee County Community Connections is thrilled to share an exciting update about the new Family Fitness Park at Konehete Veterans Park. This project would not have been possible without the generosity of Erlanger Western Carolina Hospital, whose support is helping us bring this vision to life. We are excited to share that the Family Fitness Park is now open and ready to use! Community members can already visit Konehete Veterans Park and take advantage of the new equipment and features. Whether you’re looking for a place to exercise, spend time outdoors with family, or enjoy a more accessible space, the park is ready to welcome you.

Earlier this month, we held a successful Demo Day to showcase the progress. Guests had the opportunity to learn more about the project, including the features that will make this fitness park a true asset for our community. Victoria Ivie, who worked hard to bring this initiative together, did a great job speaking during the Demo Day and highlighting the positive impact this park will have and how to use it.

The Family Fitness Park is designed to be ADA accessible, with a wheelchair ramp. We are currently waiting on our sign that will welcome families, visitors, and community members of all abilities and highlight our sponsors. We are excited about the positive impact this space will bring to Cherokee County. While Demo Day was a wonderful sneak peek, we look forward to celebrating even more when we host an official Ribbon Cutting in the future.

We also extend a big thank you to our Chamber Board Members and Ambassadors who came out to support the Demo Day. Erlanger added to the fun by giving out some branded visors to attendees, spreading smiles all around.

This project would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors and community partners:

  • Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce

  • Cherokee County Government

  • Cherokee County Tourism Development Authority

  • Colwell Construction Company

  • Heritage Partners of Cherokee County

  • Town of Murphy

  • Dedicated volunteers and community members

Together, we are building a space that will bring health, joy, and connection to Cherokee County for years to come. Thank you to everyone who has made the Family Fitness Park a reality in progress—we cannot wait to see families enjoying it soon! Stay tuned for more updates, an official ribbon cutting, and ways you can get involved/donate. We have several big projects we are working on and require funding for. Please contact us through here for more information on getting involved or donate here.

This is a time lapse to better aide you in finding the area of the park with our fitness equipment!
